pound symbol in editor
pound symbol in editor
I'm having trouble inserting the pound # symbol into my equation when I use the online editor located here: http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php. When I input
- \#
- \%
- \textasciicircum{}
- \&
- \_
- \{
- \}
- \~{}
- \textbackslash{}

Just realized that the formatting was off and made it impossible to read, I've cleaned it up so hopefully my question is clearer. Please let me know if you have any solutions, thanks!

Hi,
The best latex has is available is "\sharp" which should create #, though it may look a bit weird.

Actually, "\#" is the standard way to create a # symbol in LaTeX. See Table 1 on page 9 here:
http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/info/symbols/comprehensive/symbols-a4.pdf
"\#" should work in both math and text mode.
"\sharp" creates the sharp symbol used in musical notes; see Table 201 on page 65 of the PDF above.
Can the true # symbol be added to the equation editor?

Ok - our mistake!
The problem was caused by html browsers, that expect # to be link to an internal point within a page. As such they strip the # and anything thereafter from being submitted to our equation web service.
To overcome this we have to convert # to something else, so we're now using '&hash;'
Thanks for reporting this.
