CodeCogs v3 is launched

After a long wait, we are now finally rolling out CodeCogs v3. In only a few minutes touring this website and you should see many new features, including:

• Instant calculators that allow components to be run directly through the website, producing graphs and tables of results.
• .NET integration, so components can be downloaded as packages for use in Visual Basic and C# (and any other .NET language!).
• Improved Excel integration, which are now available on all components you license (GPL or Commercial)
• Much improved code submission system, with clearer steps and more complete editing facilities.
• A new users home page and generally much better cross linking between users, helping you to contact authors of components.
• A new Projects section within which code that is still under development can reside.
• A new clean layout, now written according to the transitional XHTML standards.
• A new forum that is smoothly integrated into the rest of the website.

Many of the changes will be invisible to users, however a lot of work has gone into improving the stability and backend structure of the website which will make further developments and changes much quicker to implement. Furthermore the website as a whole should be much more responsive and quicker with each page created using almost 30% less HTML.

Overall, we hope the new website will be significant improvement on our beta version that has been online for the best part of a year.

Associate Membership

We've now added a loyalty membership level to CodeCogs, which we're calling Associate Membership for just £30. If you contribute to CodeCogs in any one of a number of small ways (see http://www.codecogs.com/pages/cart/members.php ), then we'll waive this fee and you'll then have access to several other benefits, including:

• 30% discount on any software you buy
• access to the CodeCogs list of requests so you can earn money through bids on these requests and do work for others.
• access to 'Learn by Example' solutions
• and best of all we won't display any advertisement when you are logged in.

Note: If you buy a commercial license you can already download .NET wrapper and Excel addins for the for components you've paid for.

All money we raise will be used directly to fund the development of the new CodeCogs software. To that end, since we can not possible know all the types of functions that you may need, we will be using the money we raise to directly subsidizing requests places on the CodeCogs request system. In addition we will also be posting numerous other requests for components we know we need that fill various gaps in the library.

Our goal for 2008 is to double the library, with most new components being in Engineering and Science, thereby making CodeCogs the worlds largest engineering library.

We greatly appreciate everyones support and suggestions and look forward to a lively discussion on our new forum.
